There are many things I enjoy about being a travel agent. I enjoy working with my clients. I enjoy living vicariously through their travel plans. I enjoy learning about new places. But one of my favorite moments happened during a high school choir trip that I planned to Walt Disney World. I scheduled a "Royal Ball" for the last night of their trip. It was to be at the Odyssey Events Pavilion at Epcot, complete with a buffet dinner and DJ dance. At the last minute Disney upgraded our venue to the rotunda of the American Adventure pavilion-- it was beautiful with candlelit tables and a lighting package that covered the domed ceiling with stars. The kids were awestruck with the surroundings and enjoying the dinner and dancing. Then the magical moment happened...I had arranged for two Disney characters to make an appearance for a meet and greet...the DJ made the announcement, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to our special guests, Cinderella and Prince Charming!" As their theme music started and Cinderella and Prince Charming glided into the room, this group of teenagers started screaming like they had just seen the world's most famous rock stars! Cinderella and Prince Charming did a few turns on the dance floor and then stayed for photos in front of a castle backdrop. The choir director said "I don't know how you pulled this off, Jan, but you really outdid yourself. My kids will never forget this!"
